Still pop in occasionally And I still have, and occasionally use, my iRiver H140. The original battery + hard drive still work fine after 8 1/2 years. Amazing, no?

That is quite a nice piece of kit I've got my gallery of broken/need of repair MPIOs and Rio Karmas. The only thing that is holding on is my Haier Ibiza Rhapsody. I think that will get a larger drive shortly.

Want to hear an unusual use of an MP3 player? A transformer blew (or something) and knocked out the power to half my town. Including my office building... and the emergency lights either don't exist or aren't working, so it was really dark inside. I was able to use the ultra-bright Super AMOLED screen on my Cowon J3 to light my way into the server room, properly shut down the UPS and server, and get three of us down the unlit stairwell without anyone falling down the stairs. No one had any battery life left on their smartphones because it was nearly the end of the workday, but not the J3! Plenty of juice to save the day!
